Confirm the destination and intended user
Packaging and compliance requirements depend on where the product will be sold and who will use it. Children’s stationery, creative activity products and general office stationery may have different risk considerations.
Information to confirm
- Country or territory of sale
- Intended age group
- Product use and included components
- Retailer or marketplace requirements
Control mandatory and commercial labels
Build a written label checklist before approving artwork. Legal requirements, retailer information and logistics labels should not be added informally at the end of production.
Information to confirm
- Product name and responsible-party details
- Country-of-origin statement
- Age guidance, warnings and language
- Barcode, item code and batch information
Link testing to the final specification
A report for a different material, size or component may not support the final item. Confirm what will be tested, which version is represented and when samples must be submitted.
Information to confirm
- Applicable standard or buyer protocol
- Final materials, inks and coatings
- Laboratory and sample quantity
- Report ownership and validity requirements
Approve packing and carton details
Unit packaging protects the retail presentation; export cartons protect the shipment. Both need agreed dimensions, quantities, marks and acceptance checks.
Information to confirm
- Unit pack and assortment method
- Inner and master carton quantity
- Carton dimensions and gross weight
- Shipping marks and inspection checkpoints
